Kids love it when they open their bento box and see a fun lunch. This is the perfect lunch for any ocean-animal-loving kid! I know if I opened my lunch and saw all those fun shapes I would smile 🙂  This bento box lunch idea is creative and fun yet only takes minutes to put together!

Children of all ages are influenced by the shapes in their environment. Use a little creativity and cut food into interesting shapes prior to packing it in bento boxes for school the next day.

More Lunchbox Shape Inspiration:

  • Carve a dried apple shrunken head – ok, this one may take some talent, but you get the idea. Learn how to keep apples from browning.
  • Zucchini or cucumber spirals. Need a spiralizer? This is the one I use.
  • Heart-shaped veggies – we love this veggie cutter set. It’s easy to use and cost-effective.
  • You’re A Star! Star-shaped sandwiches are always fun. Here is a great set of sandwich cutters on Amazon, I like that it offers a few different shapes that are sure to make kiddos smile.

You know that we love to meal-prep, especially back to school lunches, be sure to prepare different shaped fruits and veggies ahead of time and use them throughout the week. Empower your older kiddos to make the vegetable and fruit treats with you as a family activity.

For our dolphin-shaped PB&J we actually used fresh fruit and skipped the jelly. Jelly can be higher in sugar, and adding fresh fruit to a sandwich is an easy way to add some extra fruit to your child’s lunchbox. We love adding sliced strawberries and bananas, but grapes are also a yummy option.

Nutrition Tip: Peanut butter contains the antioxidant resveratrol, which studies have shown it may help the onset of certain chronic diseases.
