Nutrition Tip: Pump up your iron and energy intake by adding more lean ground turkey to your diet.

Asian turkey lettuce wraps are a delicious way to enjoy the zesty flavors of Asian cuisine. These wraps are made with lean ground turkey and are low in fat, saturated fat, and calories. They are also high in protein and low in carbs. This recipe is perfect for anyone who loves Asian flavors but wants to stay away from greasy, deep-fried foods. Instead, enjoy these wraps as an appetizer, or as a main course.

Ground turkey is quick-cooking, mild, and will soak up the flavor of the sauce without overpowering it. This easy-to-prepare meat is great for a variety of turkey recipes. The protein in turkey is readily broken down with low and slow-cooking methods, making the meat tender and flavorful.

Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps Taste Great and Are Great for You

This low-carb Asian turkey lettuce wrap recipe is loaded with protein and fiber. It also has plenty of antioxidants and vitamins. Lean ground turkey is a great protein source, and the peanuts and avocado add a healthy fat. You can make these lettuce wraps as a meal or as a snack, and you can store the filling separate from the lettuce wraps. You can heat them up later, then serve with extra vegetables.

The whole meal can be made in 20 minutes, and the filling is versatile. For example, if you prefer ground chicken to ground turkey you can swap the meats and get a very similar result. Or if you prefer spicy filling, you could add some chili powder or red pepper flakes to the mix. The recipe also works well with large romaine lettuce leaves, which will hold up to the filling well. However, you don’t have to use romaine lettuce. If you would like, you could use cabbage leaves, butter lettuce or Boston Bibb lettuce instead.

If you’re wondering what to pair with your Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps, here are a few suggestions:

First, is the humble ginger and carrot salad. For this dish you will need a carrot, half an inch of ginger grated, a tablespoon each of olive oil and vinegar and salt and pepper to taste. Throw it all into a blender until smooth to create a dressing. Then serve over freshly washed and cut iceberg lettuce. How much of the dressing you use will be up to your preference as it’s quite a potent flavor.

Two additional options for side dishes are steamed white rice and chow mein noodles. Both options are delicious, but which one you choose is really up to your personal preference.
