I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love a good green bean casserole. What I don’t love is using canned mixes and feeling uncomfortable after eating it. I wanted my family to still be able to enjoy this holiday classic, but feel good about serving it. That is why I worked on this Healthy Green Bean Casserole to create a dish worth bragging about and one that I can feel better about indulging in.

Making green bean casserole is such an easy dish. You usually just dump everything, mix and bake. Well we make a homemade sauce here but the recipe is still very simple with items you most likely already have in the kitchen. How to make this Healthy Green Bean Casserole

First start by bringing 2 quarts of water to a boil in a large saucepot. Then add the green beans and cook uncovered, for about 4-5 minutes, or until tender.

Next heat the butter in a skillet over medium high heat. Then the add garlic and onion, and cook for about 1-2 minutes. Add in the salt, pepper and half-and-half, and simmer for about 7 minutes, or until the half-and-half is reduced slightly.

Then toss the half-and-half mixture with the green beans and top with the sliced almonds. Enjoy with your family and friends.
