Summer has finally arrived! Besides the beautiful weather, I also love summer because of the celebrations of the season. Summer produce is at its peak as well, and I can’t wait to get back to the farmer’s market and pick up colorful fresh fruits and veggies of all kinds. This time of year I start to gravitate towards lighter meals rather than the traditional warm comfort food I’ve eaten all winter. That includes lightening up my desserts, too!

Spring is in full effect with summer fast-approaching, which means it’s time to dust off the patio furniture and fire up the grill. I’ve actually had my grill out for a few weeks now and take every chance I get to grill our dinner. Burgers, steak, chicken, even veggies, I love grilling season! Less time in the kitchen, less mess to clean up, and more time with family and friends. Isn’t that what spring and summer is all about?

During the summer, ice cream is a staple in our house. Honestly it’s a staple all year round, but we eat a lot of ice cream during the summer especially. It’s the perfect dessert after any meal, and it’s just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. Even though my family has dessert each night, I do try to make it somewhat healthy.
