To support the healthy eating message at purchase, Produce for Kids works with produce company partners to execute produce department campaigns benefiting children's charities. The organizations's primary children's charity was designated as Feeding America in 2015. Since 2002, Produce for Kids campaigns have raised more than $5.7 million to local children’s non-profits in participating retailers’ markets.
Each retail campaign includes online marketing, recipe branding, in-store signage, public relations outreach, social media support, inclusion in Produce for Kids e-newsletters and campaign promotion through media partnerships.
In 2014, Produce for Kids launched Power Your Lunchbox Pledge to encourage parents to pack healthier lunchboxes during the back-to-school season. Families who take the pledge to pack healthier lunchboxes; get RD-approved, kid-friendly lunchbox ideas and tips; and download coupons from companies supporting the program.
