A healthy way to satisfy your child’s sweet tooth, fresh fruits appeal to children’s senses because they are colorful and come in a variety of sizes, shapes and flavors. Fruit is a great source of vitamins A & C, folate, potassium and fiber.

Vitamin A helps maintain skin and mucous membranes and aids in vision.

Vitamin C is important in immune function and helps the body heal and fight infections.

Folate is needed for healthy blood cells and is important for cell division, such as in pregnancy and growth.

Potassium maintains the heart beat, regulates body fluids and is needed for muscle and nerve functioning.

Fiber is important in digestive function and also in maintaining healthy concentrations of glucose and cholesterol in the blood (particularly the soluble fibers which are found in fruits).
